Art Reception and Opening

The various shapes, colors and marks of Barbara Weiss’ paintings are interactive participants in a dramatic world with its own energetic rules of gravity and perspective. Barbara uses a cache of personal iconography that becomes the impetus for the paint. She pays particular attention to the space between the forms and makes allusions to activity outside of the picture frame.

Barbara began her art career in Peter Max’s studio painting animation boards and canvases. She later applied her visual skills to theater and film, designing for Broadway, Off Broadway, regional theater and television; garnering an Ace Award nomination in recognition for her work with HBO. Her work can be seen in galleries, in both solo and group shows. Barbara’s studio is in Stamford, CT
